Yesterday I arrived at my doctors appointment about 10 minutes early so I crossed the street and took these photos at the Art Institute and Millennium Park. The last photo was taken out of the window of the waiting room. Compare it with the photo I took out of the same window over the summer.

  1. How do you do that blurred effect the second from last photo. Do you do the blur effect in Photoshop? I love your site…I look at it every day because I think some of the photos you take are awesome. Plus I’m from Canada and I havent seen Chicago before.

  2. You’ve got a great eye, the shot of pinky and bluey below the tower is awesome. Do you photoshop these at all, punch up the levels or anything, or are they just straight out of the camera?

    [Nancy- slow shutter speed]

  3. Rachelle, you have such a great eye and capture the most gorgeous photos! Whenever I refer to Chicago from now onward, I am totally referring folks to your blog. Your photos are just brilliant.

  4. Thanks everyone!

Nancy – the blur is just because my camera is old and the shutter is slow.

Tim – I usually do some color adjustment in photoshop.. but not that much more than Auto Color, Auto Contrast.. sometimes increase the saturation a little.

R – The rink was there and open even when Millennium Park wasnt?

  5. wow, rachelle, second picture – awesomeness. I know this doesnt really have anything to do with ice-skating, but it hasn’t snowed yet here! Anyway, again, sweet shots.
