that’s awesomely creepy.
It looks a little different at night, and without a bagillion kids running around.
How long does each face stay on the fountain? It would be cool if they let you record your own video and have it displayed.
i was going to guess a minute or two, but the site says “One face appears for about 13 minutes on the screen.” I heard once that all of the faces were of chicagoans too.
It’s funny because on the site the fountain’s designer, jaume plensa, describes the fountain area as a “silent and quiet place, with only the sound of water” when in reality the place is crazy with screaming kids playing in the water during the weekend days.
This makes me wonder if they will add more images to the fountain. Like, how many faces were there? I wonder if there was a place where Chicagoans could get their picture taken and it would run through the computer and you find out when your picture is shown.
the faces are up for a total of 13 minutes, according to this web page: http://www.chicagoarchitecture.info/ShowBuilding.php?ID=294
i read in the paper that after a period of two years the city is going to have video artists submit video works to be displayed on the fountain.
rachelle, i found your page looking for info on the fountain for a sound post i am putting up on my page. late late at night the blocks are all illuminated and change color… it’s very beautiful. your picture is great.
could you pls tell me the construction details of the fountain? so interesting. thanks
