If you have the June 22, 2004 issue of The Advocate and you turn to page 102 you will see a photograph that I took of Sheridan Square. I first posted this photograph to my site on April 7, 2003, and was recently contacted and asked if The Advocate could use it. This is the first time I’ve been paid for a published photograph.

How much did they pay you for the pic? I could take my camera out to Castro St. in SF where I live and take about 100 gayer pictures that your picture. My neighbors wear assless chaps. I don’t see any of those in your boring picture.

the photo accompanied an article titled “Fighting For Our Pride” and was about a book called “Stonewall: The Riots That Sparked the Gay Revolution” by David Carter. The photograph I took is of statues by George Segal that are called “Gay Liberation”. They depict two same-sex couples, female and male, and they commemorate the riots that are talked about in the book.
