R. Kelly Video Shoot, The Loop, Chicago
This morning as I was turning from Wacker to Wabash on my walk from the subway to work I noticed a bus parked on the sidewalk and some filming crews setting up. I didn’t really give it a second thought and assumd that Oceans 12 was shooting another Chicago scene, since we’ve been seeing film crews for the movie all around town. I could see the area from a window near the bathroom at work and I drank entirely too much water at work today so I looked out upon the scene many times throughout the day! I noticed another bus pull up and a boat got anchored nearby.
On my walk from the office back to the subway this evening there were a ton of people gathered on the bridge at Wacker/Wabash overlooking the boat. I stopped to take a peek and discovered that it wasn’t Oceans 12. R. Kelly was shooting a video. Currently facing 14-counts of child pornography, Kelly is Chicago’s #1 bad boy rapper R&B artist. Which should make me not like him, but I love the song Ignition Remix so much that I had to stop and watch the video shoot for a while. The bridge above the boat was crowded with fans and Kelly waved, blew kisses, and was generally nice - responding back when people shouted to him. Kelly, who was pimped out in all white, wasn’t the only one getting attention. The boat was filled with scantily-clad honies who drew many admiring men to the bridge. I heard one guy complain that there was only one thick girl on the boat. I was like “baby, you want thick? look at this!” Uh. Just kidding! That would be funny though.
If anyone can identify what song this video is for from this low-quality .mov clip, it’d be much appreciated!

I can’t really distinguish the song, but I believe that it’s “So Sexy” by Twista Featuring R-Kelly.
The man in the second picture, next to the girl with the aqua(?) blouse thing, wearing the red and white hat looks like Twista. Maybe I’m overanalyzing the picture and it’s actually a girl who didn’t get the memo that she was supposed to dress scantily clad.

haha, can’t wait to see this one on mtv… I saw something on the news the other day that said R. Kelly has Chicago all divided and as racially torn as OJ did w/ his trial… have you experienced any of this first-hand?! I was honestly surprised when I heard this, just because, well, is R. Kelly really all that famous?! I mean, yeah he’s a celebrity and all, and I’m sure it’s in the newspapers there a lot… but to “grip an entire city on the outcome of the verdict”? Then I’m thinking, maybe it’s not the man but the crime that is getting all the attention? It’s funny - I wonder how much publicity R. Kelly would get (and how racially divided Chicago would grow) if he wasn’t facing 14 counts of child pornography, but rather murder (ha, most likely not 14 counts of it…) but still, I highly doubt it would be as schismatic for Chicago as this current charge is (or at least how NBC is portraying it to be)- and again, I’m in really no position to judge how severe these crimes truly are, but what are the prison terms for child-pornography versus that of murder? Idunno - the dynamic seems just a little incongruous.

1- I wouldnt call him a bad boy rapper cuz he’s more like a R and B guy.

I really cannot understand why the women in videos are automatically labled as hoes. Do people not realize that sex sells and wardrobe dresses these individuals. Speaking as an experienced model, models don’t pick what they wear, they have wardrobe assistances that pick these so called scandalous outfits. I think people that make these ignorant comments are haters!!! This is what men want to see!? These are obviously professional models not professional strippers. Please lets stop the hate.

Actaully there are a few semi and professional dancers on the boat just trying to add to the size of their resume.
Don’t believe and make judgements about everything you see.
For example the drinks that the ladies look like their having are really blue gatorade (and blue gatorade with red food coloring).

That’s raw though. He shot this video in Chicago. I wish I was there. Chicago is the place to be. There are more and more artists coming out like Shawna. If I’m not mistaken, I believe she shot a piece of “Shake That” in Chicago. I also heard that there was another artist that shot a video on 49th and Racine. But if yall get anymore information on videos being filmed in Chicago before hey film it, holla @ a girl!

i think that r kelly is a wonderful person i got to met him in 1993 or 1994 i believe it was the 12 play tour in jackson mississippi. i was so excited to see him he has great love for his mother to me that’s what makes him a wonderful person i wish he would come back to mississippi soon because there are so many young adults like myself loves his music his personal life should’nt be to the point that it bring him down but a learning experinced that he must change we all makes mistakes but they are not mistakes until some has something to complain about and besides most people talk to anybody that will listen if you can find someone to listen people[most] of us have something to complain about
