Filming Notice, Wicker Park, Chicago

A new heist with the old gang!

Filming Notice at Dynamic Studio, Wicker Park, Chicago
Show of hands – who thinks I should call in sick on the day that George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, Casey Affleck, Bernie Mac et al may be in my neighborhood, or even on my street, filming Oceans 12?
Other movies being filmed in Chicago this year include The Weatherman, Batman Begins, and Ice Harvest.

Midwestern-Style Chili with elbow noodles.
It wasn’t until I moved away from the midwest that I realized that the rest of the world eats their chili without noodles in it. At first I thought the rest of the world was crazy. No noodles? I’ve come to realize that what I grew up eating as chili is actually chili mac. I still love it, but have also grown to love the rest of the world’s chili. I love chili almost any way you make it, unless it’s really really hot.
Sunday was my first time in many years making midwestern-style chili. I spent the day running errands and doing things around the house. It was cold outside and rained part of the day .. perfect for chili. And I don’t care if Limey calls me to rub it in my face, there’s no way I believe that it could have been raining in my neighborhood and bright and sunny at Wrigley Field. I turned his extra ticket down because I didn’t want to sit out in the cold when I’m not even really a Cubs fan.. I will wait until the weather is nice so I can at least sit in the sun and enjoy my beer properly.

The Second City at Pipers Alley, Old Town, Chicago

Low Hanging Fruit, The Second City at Pipers Alley, Old Town, Chicago

Low Hanging Fruit, The Second City at Pipers Alley, Old Town, Chicago
My first time seeing a Second City performance was when Shaun was in town and we went to the main stage and saw Doors Open on the Right. This time I saw a play called Low Hanging Fruit at Donny’s Skybox, a small theater located in Pipers Alley that is used as a classroom and performing stage for The Second City Training Center. Brian King, who used to work as a copywriter in my company’s Chicago office, was performing so a bunch of people from work wanted to check out the play. He quit right before my transfer so I had never met him until after the show last night. .. I have heard many stories though.. ones I won’t repeat here. Brian is the dark haired guy in these photos and his website is how2befunny.com.
