I love my new wastecan. Do you? It’s made by simplehuman, whose goal is to design products that are durable, easy-to-clean, easy-to-use, and that simplify everyday tasks. Thier line of products is both classic cool and very functional to use.

You got one! That’s great! Where did you end up buying it from?

Bed Bath & Beyond .. I haven been wanting it for a few weeks but had to wait until I could get someone to drive me there to buy it bc it would be hard to carry it on the subway or bus.

i have a simplehuman trashcan. but it’s a small one for the bathroom. lucy has not yet figured out how the step-mechanism works yet, thankfully.

Makes sense. It’ll beat emptying the one under your sink every night.

I saw their big line of wastecans in the last BBandB catalog, look great, but the one I liked was about $100 I think. I guess students weren’t meant to buy $100 garbage cans, so I’ll have to wait on my eventual future job for that.

I do like the whole simplification idea though. I take that route with my apartment all the time, mainly because any attempt to introduce something new or interesting results in my dog trying to eat it.

joe, some of them are very expensive, like in the butterfly series, but you should look again. mine was far less than $100.

I wonder what would happen if you slid that can over the vent?

Hmmm… this looks just like the one we have. Probably is. Great photo!

Unfortunately, I find the can a slight P-I-T-A. If this is like ours, it has a plastic sleeve, which you’re tempted to drop your trash right into. Until you realize that the plastic sleeve is going to get all sticky and gross rather quickly. And it’s just long enough to make it impossible to clean (unless you’re plasticman, and have stretchy arms). So, then you go and put a trash bag in it. Problem solved, right? Not so fast! When you attempt to remove the bag, you realize that it’s too full, and the more you pull, the more it starts to stretch and tear. Tip: don’t pull by the strings of the bag; instead, grab a bunch of the top of the bag, and pull the whole thing. So, you’re halfway through FINALLY getting this bag out… but wait! It gets stuck on the metal handle at the top of the sleeve! So you now need to grab the plastic sleeve with one hand, the trash bag with the other hand, and the metal handle with your third hand.

One last thing. Don’t put the can under a shelf, where, for example, you might store books which can fall off and dent your nice, shiny can. ‘Cause then you’ll have a nice, shiny dent. Not that I’d know this or anything…

    Did I mention… nice picture!

I got the 10-gallon one and it’s about a year old now. My family enjoyed and loved it. Everyone that comes to our house and see it work are impressed but a couple of weeks ago the smooth mechanism to close it quit working and now it just slams it close. I want to have it fixed but I don’t know what to do and where to get help. Can anybody help?
