Last night I sort of planned to go to the New York City Photobloggers event at the SoHo Apple Store, but sort of just wanted to go home and crawl into bed. I ended up stopping by on the way home and staying for the whole thing. It was fun to see the people behind the NYC photoblogs I read explain what they do and why they do it and what their techniques are. There were a ton of people there, so many that the Apple Store staff was getting annoyed. Some people I knew others I met for the first time. Jen baked cookies the night before and shared them with Tien and Dahlia and I (they were delicious!). Also, nice to meet Chris G. after the event. Thanks for introducing yourself, dude. And good to see WhatISee + girlfriend again.
After the presentation everyone headed over to MercBar. Jason Kottke was there and I knew it’d be my last chance at meeting the ever-elusive man behind the site, so I introduced myself. He said that he didn’t know if he should even be speaking to me. He’s still sore about the whole tator tot hotdish thing. It was good to see my nerdy friends one last time - Dahlia, Jen, Jake, Corie, Mike - you’ll have to let me know if you’re ever in Chicago! And, Jake, I’m going to hold you to that “If it doesn’t work out in Chicago you can stay with us” drunken offer you made!

NYC Photobloggers at the Apple Store
Last night, I went down to the Apple Store to check out the NYC Photobloggers presentation. Afterwards, everyone went to MercBar for a drink, and we got a peek at some action.

are you trying to deny the fact that you are a total perv?

Rachelle, it was great meeting you! I should have headed to MercBar with you guys, but I think it was a combination of me being apprehensive about my shitty id and wanting to get home and update asap! : )

no, not really. it’s just the way you put it.

that’s definitely not the Chris G that I know. Thinking about it some more - I hope there aren’t more than two o you’s because that would just be too much chris g for one world.
rachelle and chris - nice photos.
boston is nowhere near the blogging community that nyc is.

Look Away Game
I don’t mind playing the Look Away Game every so often, though last night I was very thankful when my train rolled into 7th Avenue and there were no more weird, horny people to be found.

NYC Photobloggers @ Apple Store SoHo
[I'm still working on this post- more pictures and stuff to come] Last night’s NYC Photobloggers Event at the Apple Store SoHo was a smashing success- more than a hundred people turned out to watch the presentations, and afterwards a whole bunch of us…

I completely forgot that he trolls around here as “Cracker” instead of the “Chris G” name I’m so used to.
I know you’re reading this Chris so - No, I am not a hater … just “keepin it real”.
on a side note, I think it’s amazing how much of a nyc-blog-celebrity Rachelle’s become :).
17 rachelle // Feb 27, 2004 at 3:05 pm
“celebrity” is going too far.. but i did have a little cluster of people come up to say hi to me and even get a photo taken with me after the event.
18 tien // Feb 27, 2004 at 3:21 pm
ack, i have to carry a torch? rachelle has some things that i can’t offer…boobs and an ass. all i’ve got is my wit. and that’s really not saying much.
i’ve got random rants on subjects that irk me too. but that’s different than rachelle’s stuff.

this is precisely why i gave myself a new name for my site.

hohohoho I made a funny!
I’m really not funny
jeez, my site being down today really bodes well for the comment count here @ rachelleb.

HOLLLLLAH
KID CRACKER IN THA HOUSE!!!! Fo real, i am a chris g. i am the chris g that used to work with JOWEE CRACK, aka Joel. JOWEE CRACK is never a hater, nuthin but luv luv for Jowee. Though I too was shook for a minute, thinking, damn, i wasn’t in NY, and I definitely wasn’t chillin at SoHo apple. My brother actually was there (soho apple, buyin me a bday gift), Darrell G, aka, FVD (Fat Vin Diesel).
I like how the photos go from sterile presentation to LETS GET WASTED!!!!!
Thats my kind of night
23 rachelle on a dell // Feb 27, 2004 at 8:09 pm
FVD = FAT VIN DIESEL!??!?!?!?!!? OMG.. you TRULY do not know how much i needed that laugh right now.
24 Frankenstein // Feb 27, 2004 at 8:37 pm
Look! I can see my bald spot from here!
25 cracker // Feb 27, 2004 at 9:00 pm
FVD -
Longish Story. My big bro darrell is 1/2 afri-amer. his skin complexion, voice, style and hair (read:shaved head) looks/sounds like vin diesel. however, my bro has had some dramatic weight changes. he was fairly big in HS (short, almost 275), then in college he lost like 100 pounds. Ended up moving to LA for a while, and all of the dimes would be like, HEY VIN, CAN I GET YOUR AUTOGRAPH. Now he’s gained some of the weight back, but he moved back to NYC, so the lbs are shedding off again. So if you see a Vin Diesel + 50 pounds lookalike, give darrell a HOLLLLLLAH from the CRACKER!
26 joel // Feb 27, 2004 at 9:04 pm
no joke - Darrell seriously looks like Vin Diesel. Like A LOT.
And he’s a terrible snorer. As if I didn’t need anything else to keep me up the night of Cracker’s bachelor party. Jebus.
G - it’s ON tomorrow night HOLLLLLLLLLLLLLAH

Hey, it’s mom, I know Rachelle cannot connect and read this but could anyone of you who helped her and Jess pack and get going this morning, Please give the rest of us a review of how it went? What time did they get going?
We are unable to dial any numbers in the 646 exchange for about a week now, (AT&T cannot figure out why) so we are unable to call Rachelle. I’m sure she’ll be calling one of us to give us a report. Will post here when I know more too.
Thanks to all of you who have helped in any way.
