The Home Project

Florida, Wisconsin, California, and New York. And now Illinois. These are all places I’ve called, and still do call, “home”. I truly believe that “home” is a state of mind, but just for fun I did this Home Project. With the help of my parents, Nancy, and Jessica I was able to gather a photo of every place I’ve called home* and put them together here. I hope you like them.

* I wasn’t able to get photos of places I lived in Florida so I have instead used a photo of my grandparents’ house.

    Funny connections:

    I walked by your old Thomas Street home in San Diego three days ago;

    Nearly lived in the Atrium twice, and

    Work down the street from your last Bedford home.

    What’s on the sign at the last New London house? Is it a historical marker (”New London native Rachelle Bowden lived here from 1989-1995…“)?

    What made these houses homes? It would be interesting to learn what the houses meant to you, and what memories you have of them.

    It is a nice project, and reminds me that I really need to drive out to Oakdale to see the first house I lived in.

    Ninth Ave at 49th St. West side of the st.

    I’ve lived a lot of places as well, though I’ve never changed houses in the same area.

    Josh and I figured ours out last night. I lived in 8 and he lived in around 20. He couldn’t count them all. His mom moved around a lot with him and Jeremy when they were little - from apartment to apartment. So he can only remember some of them. That’s kinda sad to me. I love it that my dad is still in his home that I grew up in. That will always be my “home.”

    i like these series - makes me feel nostalgic for my old homes. old friends. old carefreeness. old conversations.

    Those look great! You always have some great projects.. can’t wait to see the ones from Chicago.

    I love how the last pic, of your future chicago home, has the “for rent’ sign in the window.

    Soon that sign will be down!

    RB - which place did you like living in the most? I’m sure they all have their own special quality, but you must have your favorites. Just curious to hear what makes one place better or different than the others.
