Wisconsin looks so pretty and relaxing. And all the photos of relatives…reminds me of my trips back to where most of my parents’ relatives are. But you, unlike myself, seem to know your relatives’ names.

    Happy Holidays!

my family is quite big, quite expanded and surprisingly quite close. on my mom’s side there are only 2 of us that I can think of who have moved away from “home”. my dad’s side is split between WI & some southern states but all except a few keep in touch.

it should be noted that the countryside photos were all taken in the New London and Manawa area which is 2 - 3 hours north of Milwaukee. The rest of my vacation was spent in Milwaukee’s suburbs.

Also, not all of these photos were taken by me.. but they were all taken by members of my family.

Katie isn’t our 2nd cousin. She is our first cousin, once removed. The term removed denotes that she is not in the same generation as us.

What is a First Cousin, Twice Removed?

i get so messed up on those that usually i just refer to matthew, katie & dominic as “my cousin’s kids”. it’s easier!

i never cease to be amazed at the size of your family. do you ever forget a cousin’s name?

richard - thank you for finally solving that pesky mystery. i’ve always wondered what “x removed” meant and was too lazy to look it up. i still don’t quite get it, but at least i’ve read a proper explanation. ;)

wow, your dad and uncle doug look a lot alike. and that photo of richard makes him look really, really young. minus the facial hair, of course.
