The Pond, Central Park, Manhattan

Maine Monument, Central Park, Manhattan
On Saturday, Kelly, Jeff & I were going to go into the park because I wanted to see the Mall covered in snow really badly. By the time we got up there after visiting Rockefeller Center and that area, we were all getting so cold & wet from the snow. And then the wind picked up. So we ended up just walking across Central Park South from 5th Avenue to Columbus Circle. The views were still gorgeous.
i’m not going to say, “nice pictures” because that should be assumed, okay?
you know what i can’t wait for? when ice chunks from upstate start showing up in the hudson river.
When did it snow in NY? Over the weekend? Has it been snowing on the East Coast? (Haven’t checked EC weather at all for weeks now, sorry for the stupid questions
Pet
i still like to hear “nice pictures” sometimes
heh
petrol! hokey smokes you missed one. not like the blizzard last year.. but enough snow to make me dread this winter. from the ny times:
The National Weather Service recorded startling snowfall totals for early December: 36 inches in Peabody, just north of Boston; 32 in Rensselaer County in upstate New York; 23 in Cliffside Park, N.J.; 21 near Providence; 18 to 20 on Long Island; 18 in Albany; 17 in Hartford; and 12 to 16 inches in New York City.
Thanks for those NY-in-the-snow snaps. Nice.
Great pictures. Snow in NYC is the best…until salt and that scary orange stuff is put down on the sidewalks and then everything just looks depressingly dirty and sloppy :S
We would have walked right past each other if you did this saturday morning. I started out taking pics at the Maine monument, and walked in the opposite direction to Rockefeller Center. The pond photo is wonderful.
We havn’t gotten any snow yet. The storm that hit you passed just south of us.
brrrrr. in denver i was driving around with the windows down this weekend. but were expecting 5″ of snow tonight. someday i’ll make it to the island for a NY winter.
joe – you’re right.. we did have exactly opposite routes. we started at rockefeller center and went up 5th ave to central park south then across to columbus circle.
the pond looked to us like it was partially frozen over. glad you like it.
I love the pictures. You don’t know how much those of us who have never experienced a real snowfall enjoy to live vicariously through these photos. It makes me feel as if I am there, especially since here at work they have the a/c on full blast, it’s about 40 degrees inside and 80 degrees outside here today.
Keep up the good work! Wish I was there..
cj, where are you again?
hey! it’s 40 degrees inside where i work too!! except i’m in nyc, so it’s 36 degrees outside!
I’m in Texas, about an hour from Houston. lived here all my life, saw snow one time in ’82, wasn’t much and barely remember it.
Midcoast in da house!!
(forgive me, that was stupid)
The pond is not frozen over!
This is a public service announcement from me and the nyc parks dept.
wonderful pics, reminds me of my trip there last winter…sigh
