My drink at the Melting Pot

On the last night of our Thanksgiving vacation we went out for dessert at the Melting Pot in Arlington, VA. Sue, Jeff, Kelly & I shared the regular sized Bailey’s Irish Cream Dream chocolate fondue (milk chocolate swirled with Bailey’s Irish Cream). For dipping you get two plates filled with fresh strawberries, bananas, and pineapple, plus cheesecake, nutty marshmallows, pound cake and brownies. To drink I had something called the Yin & Yang. On the menu it is described as “The perfect balance of Godiva White Chocolate, Stoli Vanil Vodka, Crème de Cacao, and Ice Cream topped with chocolate shavings to give you peace of mind”. This was my first fondue experience and I don’t think I’ve ever had a better dessert in all my life!!

I was surprised to see that the Melting Pot has a restaurant in Appleton and is opening one soon in Milwaukee. Does anyone know of a Fondue restaurant in New York?

I’m fairly certain that I have never had fondue.

You might want to try looking up some Swiss restaurant, as many of them will serve some type of fondue.

I was looking for happy hour places on cityserach the other day and somehow came up with dip, which has both cheese and chocolate fondue. haven’t had fondue since we used to make it in college, so must visit soon!

When the one comes to Milwaukee in Feb I’ll have to try it out.

You can always come back here and visit ours. :-)

I had lunch at a Fondue restaurant years ago in midtown somewhere – like 49th near 5th. It was fun and tasty. There was a kinda mannekin posterboard Blond Swedish girl outside the door inviting you inside. I remember it being dark and traditional and the fondue was tasty and fun.
The Cheesecake with the cherry and chocolate looked fantastic. I’ll have to get to Arlington VA, next time i’m in DC – about 11months from now.

Doesnt it look like Jeff is giving the camera the finger, or is it just me?

We had fondue recently at Artisanal at Park & 32nd (2 Park Avenue New York, NY 10016, though the entrance is actually on 32nd). It’s a fun place, though pricey. You walk in and the whole place smells like cheese. There’s a cheese bar in the back where you can sample (and buy) a trillion different kinds of cheese. (Well, maybe only a billion.)

The fondues are varied and good. (We tried two different cheese fondues.)

Still, the best fondue is made at home and enjoyed in private.

I’ve gotta say. You take really artistic pics. It’s difficult to make something look so good even when you’re shaking the camera. And I mean that in the best way possible. :c) Slainte.

lol, richard! i thought the exact same thing when i saw that picture of jeff. :)

i went to this restaurant in the theater district called “la fondue” when i was in grade school on a trip to ny (french class trip). i can’t remember whether it was any good, but i think we had little vats of heated oil where we could cook our meat. i was fascinated.

I too thought it looked like Jeff was flipping. Also, doesn’t my sister Susie look “GHOSTLY” ???

yeh, it’s because 1) i didnt use a flash, 2) jeff & sue were moving, 3) there was a lot of steam coming out of the fondue pot because our waiter had just turned it on. i kind of like the photo though
