On the Friday after Thanksgiving, a trip to the United States Holocaust Museum Memorial reminded us of everything we have to be thankful for. I think this is one of the most important historical museums I’ve ever been to for I didn’t truly realize everything that went on before, during, and after the holocaust. Also, in my mind, the holocaust happened so long ago and could never happen again. After going through the museum I realized it was not so long ago. There are survivors of the holocaust still alive today. This museum is so sad & depressing, but so very important to visit.

I’ve not been to this museum, it must be a real downer. To be honest in the pantheon of the museums that pay homage to our glorious American history, science and industry, etc what the Nazis in Europe did to Jewish people also in Europe (terrible though it was) is given such prominance.

    Dont get it.

I have vistited the Holocaust Museum several times and am always blown away by the horrors that humans have inflicted upon other humans. I am outraged when I read comments by other visitors implying that because the Holocaust happened in Europe that it does not deserve a place of prominence in the study of American History. When good people do nothing, evil prevails and it certainly prevailed during Hitler’s reign.

I cannot bring myself to believe that even today people could be as insensitive and sheltered to think that The Holocaust Museum does not belong in America. Since this country denied the happenings in Germany until 1942, I strongly stand by my opinion that this museum is an integral piece of one’s educational experience as a whole. Why should we block ourselves from the knowledge of the atrocities carried out overseas in those times of war? Ignorance most certainly may be bliss, but it is not realistic in today’s society and is most definetly is unacceptable.

My husband and I visited the museum last year. That was one dream I wanted to make happen. I was so impressed!!! I love learning about the Holocaust! I’m so glad there is something to remember all the people that suffered. People need to remember. I’m so glad I got the oppertunity to visit the Holocaust Museum. I want to go back as soon as I can.

That previous post was the most enthusiasm I think I’ve ever seen for… the holocaust museum. I counted four exclamation marks. Sure it’s well done, but ‘love’ isn’t the word I’d use to describe any aspect of the holocaust.

I was recently there on a trip from Minnesota with my 8th grade class. It was such a great learning experiance. but It really was very sad and discomforting but thats a good way to live and learn things! I advise anyone to go who gets the chance!

this museum definitely reveals all the atrocities that jews and others suffered through the most hateful, morbid period of world history. how dare you say that a museum of such awareness does not belong in America. if you don’t like it, leave. this museum teaches a great deal of people a real event that killed real people. i left this museum crying and depressed. i continued crying for days afterwards, feeling the horror in my body. my grief for these people will never escape.
