Porto Rico Importing Co.

Porto Rico Importing Co.
Porto Rico Importing Co., West Village, Manhattan

When my parents were visiting I took them to Porto Rico Importing Co. on Bleecker Street. The selection of coffee & teas inside is astounding. My dad asked a cashier if he could take a photograph of their store and he was told that he couldn’t. Little did they know that I had been in the store a few weeks beforehand buying some chocolate coffee and had already taken several photos then.

They wouldn’t let you take pictures? That’s stupid. I’m always wary when stores won’t let you do that. I once got yelled at by Urban Outfitters for just such a thing.

My father roasts his own coffee beans. It’s astounding how different freshly roasted beans taste.

i was in the east village one the other day (yes, despite the fact that i don’t drink coffee), and the smell was kind of overwhelming. i think i had sensory overload this weekend. first chocolate and then coffee. man, my nose needs a rest.

tien - so would you go insane if you were to.. say.. drink a cup of chocolate flavored coffee?

corie - i’ve gotten yelled at for taking photos inside FCUK and just recently at a doggie day care in Tribeca.

i don’t know if i would go insane because i probably wouldn’t drink that coffee, but i might be a tad wired if i had any coffee.

i think i was just overwhelmed by smells this weekend.

i’ve gotten coffee there a few times. Once right near there, we met some tourists looking for a restaurant called NL. We chatted a bit and they told us of a restaurant called NL, a Netherlands/Dutch restaurant. Eventually we ate there and enjoyed it very much. NL is on Sullivan, just north of Houston. We’ve eaten at the Thai restaurant just up the block from NL, too - and really enjoyed it. The Green Papaya… spicy and quite unique.

I remember that Rachelle (inside FCUK). Like we were going to go and copy their clothes or something.
