About a year ago I was at the post office picking up a package and while I was waiting a man introduced himself to me and told me he was about a cafe he was opening up right across the street. It was going to be called Cafe Trocadero. I remember he asked if I liked crepes and when I said “yes” he enthusiastically told me he’d be serving the best crepes in the city. He was so excited. He urged me to stop in with my girlfriends for a cup of coffee at least. I said that I would “for sure!” Well, I didn’t. Not the entire year. I only live about 4 blocks from the cafe and I walk past it every single day on the way to work. I never once stopped in. Today I noticed that it’s closed. For good. Forever. And I can’t help but feel a bit guilty and partially responsible.

well, I guess it is now official.
Rachelle has finally “made it” … because people are “first’ing” the entries’ comments.
Congrats R-Beezy!

okay…i didn’t get that until rachelle explained it to me. maybe the first thing is due to my procrastination at work so i constantly read 5 sites.

Wonder why he went out of business, maybe those crepes were rolled a little too tight.
Heheh..sorry, there are so many Seinfeld references to this, I don’t know where to begin.
*sigh* ..yes, I have no life.

The demand for crepes has dwindled a bit lately, but your not going to at least try them must have been the last straw. I bet he was a very very nice man. and you were so very friendly at the Post Office, too. That probably adds to your feeling of guilt.

Wow. I just came across this site and I LOVE it.
I was actually looking for pictures on google of the Holland Tunnel, the intersection in Jersey City and thats how I found you. I HATE that intersection.
I am moving up to the city on December 1st with my 4 year old daughter. In many ways I’m scared but I’m so excited. I’ve lived in South Jersey all my life (Atlantic City) It’s a big move for me but I’m sure it will be a fantastic experience.
You just got yourself another daily reader.

There’s a Trocadero near me that’s doing quite well, if it’s any consolation!?

“firsting” reads dangerously close to another, word relating to sexual activity.
anyway, i do read mefi on occasion, but i’ve never come across that term before. i’ve been schooled.

I was referring to the Seinfeld ep. were Kramer brings over some Cubans to help him make cigars. The Cubans turn out to be Domincans, so the cigar making business doesn’t come through, and Kramer gets them to work at a crepe restaurant. The problem is they roll the crepes too tight, so when people cut the crepes to eat them, they start spraying out the hot fillings, injuring the customers.

then the dominicans hijack a plane wearing “#1 Dad” T-Shirts !!!
