My Favorite Cure Song

November 17th, 2003 · 33 Comments

Catch :: CureToday my favorite Cure song, Catch, came on. I was reminded of how much I love Catch, and thus began another one of my short-term song obsessions. So far I’ve listened to the song 10 times in a row. Around 20-25 or so I should start to get sick of it and move on to the next song.

You know I even think that she stared like you
She used to just stand there and stare
And roll her eyes right up to heaven
And make like I just wasn’t there
And she used to fall down a lot
That girl was always falling again and again
And I used to sometimes try to catch her
But I never even caught her name

What is your favorite Cure song?

  • joel

a few years ago I had the same type of obsession with “A Letter to Elise”. That’s easily my favorite cure song EVER.

  • joel

    damn it.

my cure cds are home and I *NEEDED* to hear that song.

so iTunes wins and gets another dollar.

All time favorite “Maybe Someday”- must have listened to it like a mental patient about 40,000 times and I am still not sick of it

    “High”- feel good favorite

“Never enough” – oldest favorite- great fuzzy guitars…..

  • Richard

“Catch” is beautiful. I’ve got three favorite songs:

    2. “Push” – The Head on the Door

    3. “Just Like Heaven” – Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me

“I love you, I love you, I love you.
That’s all I want to say,
    Until I find a way
I will say the only words
    I know that you’ll understand,
    My Rachelle,”

    The Beatles

i think i have “a letter to elise” on my galore cd.. but i havent had any of my cds out in years.. so do i go dig for it or just pay the 99 cents?

  • scott

how much digging are we talking about?

that box in the bottom of the closet behind the hs yearbook, some old comfy shoes, and that sweater that your aunt sent that you can’t bear to wear or throw out…

i’m a bigger fan of having the cd out for the personal faves, you know read the lyrics in the liner notes that sorta thing. feel like a kid again buying records…

hold on i’m having a moment.

    yeah dig it out.

  • Matt

Six Different Ways, hands down :-)

  • Jr. Hoffa

“Boys Don’t Cry” is the best Cure song. The video is pretty solid also.

  • Aaron also

New to the site, and felt I had to respond. There are
so many great songs, its hard to choose. But right now I would have to say, Standing at the edge of the deep green sea; Fascination Street; and The Figurehead.

  • Andrew from Wimbledon UK

    1. Just like heaven
    2. Lovesong
    3. Jumping some else’s train

  • Roger

    Why has nobody mentioned “Cut”???

Cut is definitely my favorite Cure song of all time, although Lullaby, Why Can’t I Be You and How Beautiful You Are are all songs I’ve been obsessed with at different times.

Cut takes the cake though, :)

  • sublimityeternal

When I was a lot younger, I wasn’t all that mesmerized by the Cure. Then I heard “Fascination Street” when I was like 13, and it blew my mind with it’s awesomeness, in comparison to those pop hits. I’ve been on this music collecting frenzy for around a year now and I just started listening them again in college. I’m currently obsessed with “Lullaby” and “Jumping Someones Else’s Train.” The latter described my highschool experience well, I think.

  • Lullaby

    my favorites would probably be
    doing the unstuck
    fascination street
    last dance
    love song
    there is no if…
    the hanging garden

but i love all the cure songs..
i mean come on…Robert Smith is the man and you just cant mess with The Cure.

  • librasrloco

I love almost all of the cure songs.Just keep it at that,ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Shaun

    gotta be:

    “Cut Here”

    its just beautiful.

  • ben sheppard

WAY too few people mentioning “harold and joe”!!…unless you haven’t heard it.

  • Amy

Since I first heard the song “Just like Heaven” it was my favorite. I heard it with my boyfriend and it became our song. It represented the happiness we felt with each other, and the love that bonded us as soulmates. We even danced to this song at our wedding in November of 1999. Can you believe an 80s song was the song for our dance at our wedding almost 20 years later?! I love this song, and I always will. My dear hubby died in a car accident after a drunk driver collided into us in June 2003. This song will always be special to me.
