I no longer covet my neighbor’s iPod.. and I no longer have to resist the jealous urge to rip out passer-by’s white iPod earbuds while walking down the street.
How about “Paul”? It just seems right for an iPod.
(Of course for PCs and pc peripherals it’s always arcane names, Baalshem, Shaitan, Alexandria, &c; these names weren’t necessarily mine to choose. Blame the sysad
After looking at the screen, it’s hard to wonder if the iPod is the love child of Ruby and a certain one-gloved, plastic surgery obsessed pop star/recluse…
heh. those last two are both very good points. ipods do make me drool.. and my little rubber-coated ipod is very much ruby and very much michael. maybe his name is billy jean!
I named mine Chicklet! Well, it looks like one…kind of. Seriously, whatever you do, don’t update the firmware to verison 2.1!! I did and now Chicklet is a very sick iPod
after a character in a book.. that’s a good idea.. but maybe i should think about a “character” in one of the songs that is on the ipod.. like how lee named his yoshimi
Naming after a character in a song is good. Now the only problem is to think of a song that you really like, and also has a cool name in it. This is a tough decision isn’t it? Ok, it’s not like we’re dealing with foreign policies or anything, but you know what I mean. It took me a day or two to name it.(I just got new Ipod last week-congratulations to you on yours!)
jimmi is good.. after jimmi thing, i assume. congrats on the new ipod, techno. .
i think the winning name is………. billy!
for billy jean, which was playing when i took this photo.
now that i’ve had the ipod for a couple days it’s funny how things seem different. like how the city is all of a sudden operating to the beat of my personal soundtrack.. and how i’ve started to measure things in songs.. i can imagine meeting up with someone one day and them asking me how long i’ve been waiting. “for 2 songs,” i’ll reply.
I’m afraid people are going to think im one of “those crazies” because i’ve caught myself singing along with billy more than once in the past few days…
Today my iPod turns 1 year old. It’s kind of strange because it’s one of those things that has so much become a part of my lifestyle that I don’t even know what I did without it. Right after…
Ruby & Rachelle In October 2000, Mark and I went to Comp USA in Kearny Mesa and I adopted Ruby. Since then she’s been with me through thick and thin, from California to New York and finally making her…
sooo pretty. i’m jealous. my old one looks like a brick compared to yours!
in the photo the ipod has a translucent silicone jacket on .. if you’re wondering why it looks a little different.
Name? Opal. It does go with Ruby…
i’m partial to song names for ipods. mine is ‘yoshimi,’ from the flaming lips track.
so did you hold it all night, like the brand new toy that it was?
i guess now i can walk up to you while listening to my ipod without the fear of an ass-kicking, right?
yoshimi is a good name.. if only i liked that song more.. opal would mean he’s a girl. for some reason I immediately thought of it as a boy.
tien, i may still kick your ass for other reasons!
your ipod is wearing a prophylactic! how about “dom” (as in conDom)
(sorry, i’m not being very helpful, am i?)
oh, i forgot to say, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How about Whitie? It goes with Ruby.
Welcome to the family Whitie!
heh
other reasons? hmm…
hooray! poddy training!
which one did you get?
How about “Paul”? It just seems right for an iPod.
(Of course for PCs and pc peripherals it’s always arcane names, Baalshem, Shaitan, Alexandria, &c; these names weren’t necessarily mine to choose. Blame the sysad
el – he’s the 10 gig model.
petrol – he can’t be named paul.. paul is the name of chuck’s ipod.
Paul taken? Damn. Howabout “Jonesy”? Yes, I’ve just finished a Sigourney Weaver/Alien/Aliens/Alien Rez marathon (:
PS. 10GB of tunes… Sweet!
Pearl.
After looking at the screen, it’s hard to wonder if the iPod is the love child of Ruby and a certain one-gloved, plastic surgery obsessed pop star/recluse…
How about Podlov – like Pavlov, because when people see it, it makes them drool!?
heh. those last two are both very good points. ipods do make me drool.. and my little rubber-coated ipod is very much ruby and very much michael. maybe his name is billy jean!
isn’t billy jean a girl? i thought you said whitey was a boy?
I like “Pablo” for some reason.
I’m weird.
Petey!
I named mine Chicklet! Well, it looks like one…kind of. Seriously, whatever you do, don’t update the firmware to verison 2.1!! I did and now Chicklet is a very sick iPod
Joel, if you’re a fan of Radiohead you can call it Pablo Honey!
PS. Yes. Weird. Good
Pet
I personally like the Billy Jean idea
rubby. or the wizard some call tim.
I named mine “Idoru”..got the name from a William Gibson novel- in the book it represents a virtual pop star.
after a character in a book.. that’s a good idea.. but maybe i should think about a “character” in one of the songs that is on the ipod.. like how lee named his yoshimi
Jimmi?

er…Billie.
