There's something situationist about sidewalk art, and there's something situationist about walking around with a digicam and taking pics of them. "Artwork as found object" etc. The shoes in the photos reinforce that. Also, I found the whole thing rather intimate, nicely set against the vast impersonal backdrop that is New York. Kudos to Gawker.com for pointing them out! What? 100 or 200 photos? Oh, you poor baby, that’s so many ;-)
