A century ago this area of Harlem was largely Jewish. If you look closely at many of the large churches in the neighborhood you'll see them decorated with Stars of David --they were originally synagogues. Today the neighborhood is mainly Christian and Muslim. Did you notice the mosque across the street from Amy Ruth's?
