The last time I was at the supermarket I passed down the canned foods isle and the Speghettios with meatballs called out to me. Tonight I had them for dinner, along with a grilled cheese sandwich - the perfect meal if you’re like 6 years old.
Whenever I think of Speghettios I think of a time in junior high when I went along with my cousin, Dawn, to babysit for some little kid that lived near her family’s home in Fremont, WI. We were all sharing some Speghettios with meatballs for lunch. I remember convincing the kid that the meatballs were made of horse meat. He got so grossed out that he gave me all of his meatballs. Score!

i like tomato soup, but i always forget to make it when i have grilled cheese. when i was little i used to use catsup. I also used to love spaghettios, but i’m pretty sure i couldn’t force myslef to eat them now. or any canned pasta product.

i actually don’t really like tomatoes. except at peter luger’s…mmm…
but richard, you have kids!! kids should love spaghettios…unless you don’t want to feed them that crap.

Rachelle, That is the grossest photo this side of Sunday! I can barely stand to look at Spaghetti-O’s at normal magnification!
And what’s it take to get on your friends list, friend?

spaghettios. in the same aisle as chicken noodle soup, easy mac, ramen noodles, and cup noodle.
perfect meals for 6-yr-olds or….20-yr-olds like me! i am a college kid who lives off instant food. it is a shock to see that you acually chose to have spaghettios for dinner ::faints:: Say, can we switch one day? i’ll make you some delicious gourmet easy mac and you cook me up a chicken casserole.

Back when I was a bachelor, Chef Boyardee Meat Ravioli was a dietary staple. Now that I’m married, we’ve upgraded to Hot Pockets.

I haven’t had speghettios for years.. and with this one can i’m pretty sure I’ll be set until at least 2005. macaroni & cheese.. that’s another story. i loves me some easy mac. as far as the chef boyardee line - I used to love that beefaroni, which i liked to call barfaroni. i haven’t had that for years though. i don’t think i’ll be getting it any time soon, either. I think my brother and I used to disagree over which was better, the chef’s ravioli or franco american’s raviolios.
tien.. dude. peter lugers? $50 bills? a car? whassup!? bling-blingin over dere!
mcdonald’s isnt my brother’s kids’ favorite restaurant and they don’t eat speghettios.. they’re weird
to get on the rachelleb.com friends list you actually have to be my friend.. um. .. like.. offline.. and uh.. for “real”. i’ve been meaning to have a sep list for sites that are online “friends” but i’m lazy and stuff.

ps. i don’t think the speghettios made me sick, but im sure they didn’t help.. i’m THIS close to a full-blown cold.. scratchy throat, stuffy head, etc. bleh.

Mmmmmm…speghettios.
Here is a useless fact…Chef Boyardee’s real name was Hector Boyardi (pronounced “Boyar-dee”.) So many people called him “Boy-ar-dee” that he changed it when he came over here 80 years ago.
The weird stuff that sticks inside my brain…

Mac & cheese is Steph’s favorite food, and fortunately I like it too. No easy mac though. I usually spice it up with some peas and diced chicken breasts. Yummy.
I think my favorite canned pasta was always boyaredee’s tortalini. the meat ones not the cheese.
McDonnalts is Steph’s favorite restaurant, we just never go there because amanda and i both hate it. She would probably love spaghettios too, but we dont buy them.

i thought you said that steph’s favorite restaurant is culvers.
13 Richard // Oct 10, 2003 at 8:38 am
culver’s is probably her favorite restaurant that we actually go to. either that or omega, which is basically the same as culvers.

The meatballs are the very best part… although… they do taste a little different from regular meat… maybe it is horse meat or kangaroo meat. Anyone ever put Prego® tomato sauce on their grilled cheese snadwiches like I do? It’s fantastic. My mom makes grilled cheese in a skillet with about a half-a-stick of butter in the skillet (grantend she makes no less than 4 sandwiches this way). It’s glorious. I so am having grilled cheese as soon as I can now. Rachelle, you make me hungry.

well, you need the 50s with your 40s and it helps if you have 50 when you go to luger’s, since that’s the average cost. we should all go sometime. and yes…i am mad bling-bling. no, not really.
bleh, mac and cheese - i am an infamous mac and cheese hater. but the peas and diced chicken do sound good.

The other day I made grilled cheese… on the grill outside. Amanda thought i was nuts, but afterall it is called grilled cheese not pan fried cheese. It turned out pretty good.

my favorite poor-man’s-dinner is still a bowl of cold cereal. After getting home from a long day at work sometimes I don’t even want to look through what I have. I don’t even want to have to make a decision. I just make a bee-line to whatever box of cereal is closest.
18 joel // Oct 10, 2003 at 10:15 am
… I’m not saying speghettios is a poor-(wo)man’s-dinner though!!
19 jeannette // Oct 10, 2003 at 12:05 pm
somehow, spaghettios never made it into my gastronomic lexicon. i’m with you, joel - i used to eat cereal for dinner every night (my mom cooked bland, non-spicy food for my dad that i never liked to eat. some koreans, huh?)
when i was a paralegal and tired as a dog when i came home, my favorite dinner was oat nut bread with butter. my roommate thought i was going to die of malnutrition. but for me, it was a treat since my mom never let me use butter on bread when i was a kid.
my fave quickie meal is now ramen with chili garlic sauce. or a hot dog. or mac and cheese. (mom, i hope you’re not reading this!)
