A Toast to More Hockey Fights, NY Rangers vs. New Jersey Devils, Madison Square Garden, Manhattan

A Hockey Fight, NY Rangers vs. New Jersey Devils, Madison Square Garden, Manhattan
Ted had four tickets to the NY Rangers vs. New Jersey Devils hockey game that he couldn’t use so Danielle, Stephanie, Jessica and I went up to Madison Square Garden to watch the game. Our seats were excellent - 5 rows from the ice and right behind the Rangers bench (the tickets’ face value was $150 each!). Being so close to the Ranger’s bench led me to my current obsession with Eric Lindros (hoping that all those concussions have made his stoopid enough to go out with me!). In the past I’ve been to Milwaukee Admiral and San Diego Gulls hockey games but never to an NHL game. It was also my first time at The Garden. Good times, good times.

nothing quite like a packed pre-season game!

Hey Rachelle, Thanks for the complement on the redesign! I didn’t even know you read my weblog. Thanks again, and Go Islanders!

It looks like I spelled “compliment” wrong above. Or maybe I just made the mistake so I could comment again. I wanted to mention that I read your site regularly, too.

thats redic. someone made a comment to me the other day when they found out i was going to a hockey game.. they said, “well.. you grew up in wisconsin, everyone there likes hockey, right?” .. i was like .. um. no.. wisconsin doesnt even have a pro hockey team!! just because we have actual, real ice doesnt mean that we all love hockey!!

well, you would think with the cold and the proximity to canada, people would play hockey, but i guess not. you’ll be pleased to know that the list of players from wisconsin is short.

Hey - we have the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL - does that count for anything?
13 rachelle // Oct 3, 2003 at 9:49 am
not much. AHL, not NHL. That’s like comparing the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to the Milwaukee Brewers
14 tien // Oct 3, 2003 at 11:16 am
i don’t know rachelle, the brewers are pretty bad.

I read this blog everyday–the pictures entertain me.
I never thought I would find hockey pictures and mention of the Islanders, however.
For clarification–the Islanders are the other New York metro-area hockey team (on, well, Long Island). They have made the playoffs the last two years–the Rangers haven’t made them in the last six. The Islanders and Rangers have won an equal number of Stanley Cups–however, the Islanders have only been in existance for 31 years. (As opposed to the Rangers who are a good 80+ years old.)
My only other comment is that pre-season hockey doesn’t really count. Go back in two weeks.

I’m sure preseason isn’t as good as regular season.. but i probably wont be going back unless i get some more really good tickets for free!!

Rachelle - Not all that much. It’s only on a pay channel which I don’t have :(. They show highlights on Swedish TV. Else I listen to the games on radio or just follow the score online.
I was actually in the Rangers’ training center back in 92 when I was in New York
I’ve been a Rangers fan ever since.
I used to play hockey mysef.. Don’t know if you knew?
