Weather Extremes

June 26th, 2003 · 13 Comments

HOTI don’t want to complain about the weather because we’re finally seeing the sun after about 5 weeks of gray skies, cold temperatures and rain…. BUT…. why must we go from one extreme to the other!? Temperatures today are forcasted to reach 97 degrees. Of course, it’s not so much the heat as it is the gosh dern humidity. And a nice little heat advisory to remind us that prolonged exposure could be deadly.

yesterday a chocolate bar melted inside my desk. that’s when I knew i’d already had enough. nobody betta mess wit ma choc-o-late, sucka fool!!

  • dy

we’re suffering Upstate, too. it’ll be 95 today.

there’s cool weather to follow… it was close to 100 yesterday and the day before – but much much cooler today – in the 60s! talk about extremes.

  • tien

did you see this? seems to be exactly what you were talking about.

“…it was about 800 degrees. not that i’m complaining. yet”

    Now are you officially complaining?

  • rachelle

im not officially complaining yet.. the rain is still fresh in my mind.

tien – that article sums it up.. exept the part about the weather being bloomberg’s fault.. havent we blamed him for enough already?

  • tien

well, one could argue that his radio station reports on the weather and so it is indirectly his fault…assuming you want to blame him for everything.

i actually think that hes done a passable job considering he has little to work with (and i didnt even vote for him).

I’m glad the snow is done and the rain is gone (for only a bit). But, when the heat index is 95-105 degrees….that’s a little nuts. When it’s 95 in a dry climate I can handle it….but… humidity sucks. I shall no longer take air conditioning for granted. A friend of mine was saying he teaches remedial summer school in south arlington and the kids don’t want to leave because they don’t have air conditioning at home…. agh.

  • rachelle

uh.. i don’t have a/c. i think im going to pass out right now. i need to shower fast so i can get to work where it’s nice and cool.. and then I’ll sit there not wanting to leave work just like those kids in south arlington.

Are you nuts?!! You need AC. Off to the store with you, get an 8000 BTU unit a hora mismo! :)

my roommate is letting me use this portable unit.. it’s kind of jimmy rigged up, makes a lot of noise and smells, but at least it’s cooler in here. it’s hard to have an air conditioner in my room because i only have one window and it’s the fire escape with a gate on the window.
