For 25 years my family was together every year for Thanksgiving. Then last year I was stranded in NYC and now the tradition has completely broken. This year I’ll be with my cousin and her husband in Fairfax, my dad is in Florida visiting his parents and siblings, my brother and his family will be spending the holiday with his wife’s family and my mom is going to run a 10k “Turkey Trot” with her friend and then go to my aunt and uncle’s house for dinner. Over the past few years, since I moved away from home, I’ve kind of grown used to everyone being together for certain things.. except me being off somewhere. This year it’s sad to think that nobody in my immediate family will be together for the holiday. I guess it’s what happens when families grow up.. and apart.
