It’s a beautiful day outside. Danielle and I decide to leisurely stroll over to the 508 Cafe and get some wraps for lunch. After we get them we decide to walk another block or two over to the water’s edge to eat outside and enjoy the day. It’s sunny and warm, there’s a slight breeze, the water is calming. In the distance you can see the Statue of Liberty on the skyline. We sit down and open our lunches up, fully enjoying this perfect weather, when suddenly there is a deafening roar. Helicopters patrolling the island. And then 3 more. And they’re not just regular ones.. they’re those military ones you only see on TV. It was at that moment that I realized this whole new threat to New York is so very real. While the military patrolling Manhattan should be comforting, I found it to be so unnerving. Freaky. It made me anxious. I wanted to leave.
