April Fools Day

April 1st, 2002 · No Comments

It’s not that I’m not good at playing pranks and practical jokes, it’s just that I’m not good when under the gun to think of something creative and don’t have an accomplice lined up. So, expect nothing from me this April Fools Day!

My best prank recently was when Nick’s legoman was kidnapped by legomankidnapper@hotmail.com! Mike and I pulled this prank off and it involved our entire office for days on end. It included ransom notes and threatening emails. Nick had accused everyone from our boss, to designers, to writers, to the IT guy on another floor of being the culprit and because none of them were the true kidnapper they all became involved in trying to unravel the mystery. Quite a good prank, if I do say so myself.

I can remember doing little stuff like that even when I was a little kid. Once, when I was about 7 or so, while in the shower, I noticed that the red words on the shampoo bottle were chipping off. When they were on my hand they kind of looked like little cuts. I got out of the shower, put them on my hand, walked upstairs, pretended to be crying (not too hard when you’re still dripping wet from the shower), and told my mom that I cut myself on her razor in the shower. She freaked out for a minute and then I wiped the paint chips off and started laughing.

Anyway, I can’t think of anything good for my site, but I have come across some pretty “interesting” websites lately that I”ll share with you in honor of April Fools Day:

- Peep Surgery. A surgeon attempts to seperate conjoined Marshmallow Peep quintuplets. [via Do You Feel Loved]

- Wondering what to do with all those ketchup packets? This guy made a giant bear out of them and then shot BB’s at it and burned it. [via CamWorld]

- Rock ‘n’ Roll High School. So you wanna be a rock star? Try attending the Paul Green School of Rock Music in Philadelphia.

- Official Site for Reporting Crane Accidents (mishaps). CraneAccidents.com is the Official Web-site for reporting crane related accidents on a world wide basis. The site is loaded with photos of crane accidents. [via b-may]

- Cat Racing. “It could have been yesterday. That’s how vividly defending Indy 500 champ Helio Castroneves remembers his first cat race 15 years ago.” The funniest part is that this article is on an ESPN site. [via astroscout]
