Good Morning America, Live from Times Square

February 8th, 2002 · 4 Comments

Many times on my daily commute to and from work I get on and off at the wrong subway stations. On purpose (really!). This allows me some daily exercise and a breath of fresh air (if you can consider the air in the city anything close to “fresh”). This morning I was walking to the 42nd Street station and I passed by ABC studios in Times Square. The crowd wasn’t very big because it was early in the morning so I stopped by the windows and took a look. They were filming Good Morning America. In the studio, near the window I was looking in, they were setting up for the cooking segment.

We are from Sandpoint Idaho and changed from Today Show 2 years ago because of Katie Curic’s caustic way of interviewing. We so liked Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson’s “finesse” and politeness when interviewing. But what has happened to Diane Sawyer? She’s becoming just like Katie Curic – blunt, with an underlying sharpness. She pre-disposes an attitude on a subject with voice, wording and sometimes disapproving expressions. Some of today’s happenings are extremely offensive I know, but please go back to the way you were Diane, you were not only a lady, unoffensive in every way, but you brought interviews to your viewers with superb taste & politeness yet compelling without a “hurry up, judgmental spin — this is especially common regarding “anything political”. You’re still not as bad as Katie I admit. Most of the time, she answers her own questions! Then says, is that right? Give me a break. Come on Diane, be a good girl! We don’t see Charlie getting “crusty”. We stay only for him now! Thanks for listening. The Harveys in Idaho
